Data analysis of admission and outcome of baby birds in summer breeding season

Two months duration between 1 June – 31 August 2025
Project Scope:
The intern project will be separated into two parts. In the first part, the intern will assist with daily animal husbandry work in the ward to gain more understanding about the rescue and rehabilitation process, and skills and knowledge of taking care of baby animals.
The second part, which is the data analysis project, involves collecting data on admission and outcome of the baby birds received in 2025. Also, the intern will conduct a statistical analysis of the data to see whether changes in husbandry practices in 2024 compared to 2023 are significant to increase the survival rate as well as speeding up the release rate. From the intern's report, we can make suggestions on how to improve our current animal practices in the coming years.
Details:
- Working Days: 5 days per week (might need to work on weekends and public holidays)
- Working Hour: 0830-1700, including 1 hour lunch time
- Travel allowance: HKD100 per working day
Intern duties:
- Assist with the animal husbandry work in Ward and outdoor enclosures
- Collect and enter the data of baby birds
- Analyse the results of the data

Job Requirements:
- Enjoys nature and is physically fit for outdoor activities
- Year 2 or above bachelor students specialising in Science, Biology or Environmental Science
- Good command of English and Cantonese (spoken and written);
- Self-motivated, creative, with outgoing personality and energetic;
- Able to work independently and in a team
- Able to use statistical analysis tools (e.g. excel, R, etc.)
