Sustainable Living Officer (Food Education)

Major responsibilities

The officer will work mainly at KFBG Green Hub and the Food Hub at HKU Kadoorie Centre, supporting our mission to promote sustainable living. He or she will work with a team of sustainable living officers and chefs on daily basis and actively co-creates projects and services with different KFBG departments and external collaborators. She/ he will report to “Green Hub Manager (Visitor experience)”.

Responsibility
  • Co-ordinate and implement a range of food and environmental education workshops for people of various ages and backgrounds to facilitate their transition to sustainable living.
  • Work with a team of chef to integrate, design and execute food education component in catering operation and food service communications.
  • Contribute as a team member to enhance visitor experience at KFBG Green Hub and Food Hub through educational services, projects and events.
  • Project management and administrative duties.
  • 5-day work per week. Working on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays is essential. Required to work residentially occasionally.
Job Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Food and/or Environmental science, Nutrition, or related discipline.
  • Solid experience in developing and executing education programmes. Candidates with more experience will be considered for the position of senior officer.
  • Experience in organizing and implementing sustainable food education related programmes is an advantage.
  • Passionate about food and sustainable living, good knowledge of sustainable food system and food education.
  • Strong organizing skills and interpersonal skills, able to interact with people in a positive, inspirational way.
  • Mature, self-motivated, dynamic, a good team player and be able to work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Chinese and English, both written and spoken. (knowledge of Mandarin will be an advantage).
  • Computer literacy is essential. Knowledge of computer skills including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop will be an advantage.
  • Physically fit for outdoor activities.
  • Open minded and recognize the validity of all spiritual paths.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of KFBGC.
  • Valid Type I or II driving license is an advantage.
