Wildlife Rescue Fund

Since 1994, over 70,000 injured or confiscated animals have been received by the Wild Animal Rescue Centre (WARC).

Wild Animal Rescue Centre

This is the only private wildlife rescue centre operating in Hong Kong under a special licence from the authorities. KFBG’s facilities include a veterinary hospital, quarantine facilities, animal-holding enclosures and rehabilitation facilities.

Established in 1994 to fill an identified need, KFBG’s Wild Animal Rescue Centre has witnessed an alarming increase in the number of wild animals requiring help, highlighting the pressing need for human intervention in the conservation of wild species.

Native animals arrive at WARC from the wild in Hong Kong, while exotic species are from government seizures and can have global origins. Past rescues include the globally threatened Black-faced Spoonbill with a world population of several thousand, and the most endangered reptile the Madagascan Ploughshare Tortoise with less than 300 remaining in the wild.

From the 70,000 rescued animals, more than half were successfully nursed back to health and returned to the wild or were found a permanent home at an appropriate local or overseas conservation facility. Of the animals who did not make it, the majority were birds which were so seriously injured (often after collision on windows of high-rise buildings) that they died after they arrived at WARC.

We need your support

As the number of rescued wild animals continues to rise, the operational expenses of WARC have also increased. Your donation can contribute toward the specialist food needs of the diverse species in captivity, help with enclosure management and upgrade and support the costs of veterinary and husbandry care of the animals under temporary holding and prior to their release back into the wild or rehoming into conservation programmes around the globe.

Your donation will help us to continue our life saving work and also contribute to the fight against the global extinction crisis facing many species of wild animals.
