KFBG Plant Encounters programme, which offers four sessions per month, introduces the diversity and ecology of Hong Kong native plants. You will learn from staff of KFBG’s Flora Conservation Department about the generous green world that surrounds us, thus deepening your appreciation of the fragile beauty of the many rare species that naturally occur here. Income is used to support KFBG's ongoing plant conservation work.
Theme: The Battle Between Native and Invasive Plant Species
You will definitely have seen many of the introduced weeds, or so-called invasive species, many times before. They run riot through our landscape and silently create ecological imbalances. In this guided tour, we take participants to identify a number of these invasive plants and discover how they impact our local ecosystems; we also introduce a few resilient native species that actually have horticultural benefits; and help you understand why preserving our native flora is crucial.
