Butterfly Garden Adventure! The Importance of Native Plants for Wild Hong Kong Butterflies

The month of May heralds early summer in Hong Kong, a time when many butterflies take to the skies. KFBG’s Butterfly Garden – the first public garden in Hong Kong to be created specifically for these beautiful insects – is located on our upper slopes and is planted with a diverse mix of native plants that attract a wide variety of wild butterflies. Over the years, we have recorded more than 200 butterfly species there. Join us in May to see many on the wing and learn about the native plants that sustain them.

This month, the Flora Conservation Department presents two special Plant Encounters sessions in which you are invited to take the KFBG shuttle bus to our Butterfly Garden where an expert horticulturalist will introduce you to the amazing native host plants and nectar plants that play an indispensable role in the lifecycle of our exquisite, wild butterflies. Parents with children are welcome. Income is used to support KFBG's ongoing plant conservation work.
