On 8 February, 2025, KFBG will co-host the “Overview of the Agricultural Priority Areas Policy Seminar” with the Centre for Urban Innovations (Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, CUHK), Liber Research Community, WWF-Hong Kong, the Conservancy Association and the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society.
Farmland is fundamental to agricultural development. In early December 2024, the Hong Kong government announced the “Agricultural Priority Areas” policy document, proposing to define 37 such areas, covering approximately 980 hectares of land. This policy has far-reaching implications for local agricultural development, water and soil resources, and the natural rural environment. It deserves the attention of industry and the public.
We welcome industry professionals and organisations concerned about local agriculture to participate in this seminar. In addition to the seminar, we will also arrange three farm visits, allowing the public to understand better the connection between farmland, natural environment and food production.
