Tea & Movement

A day gathering for women

Across cultures and throughout history, women have gathered to create, care for, and nurture their families and communities. These moments, woven into daily life, were spaces when hands were busy and stories flowed freely, cultivating a deep sense of belonging.

In modern life, we often lose touch with this spacious way of being together—the invisible threads of shared identity and collective care that strengthen us as individuals and connect us to a wider community - of humans and other beings: animals, plants, trees, streams.

The Kadoorie Earth Programme invites a small circle of up to sixteen women to gather on the foothills of the sacred mountain of Kwun Yum Shan to reawaken this ancient way of connection. This day offers an opportunity to restore our relationship with self, one another and the land. Guided by the twin practices of Tea Ceremony and Creative Movement, we will listen deeply—to our bodies, to each other, and to the natural world—for the medicine these times call for.

Tea Ceremony
For hundreds of years Tea has grown and been cultivated on the slopes of Kwun Yum Shan as well as more widely in the territory of HK. Tea Ceremony will introduce bowl tea and the essence of simplicity in cultivating inner harmony and awakened presence. Through this plant medicine, we are invited to dance with nature's elements, connecting deeply with the land, ourselves and others.

Creative Movement
Creative Movement opens pathways to sensing, relating, and expressing through the body. With the wisdom of our unique creative expressions, we will explore new ways of connection—honouring womanhood, revering our embodied understanding of natural rhythms and nurturing our role as custodians of the Earth.

Facilitators

Deborah McAulay

Deborah was blessed to grow up with plenty of time exploring the foothills of Kwun Yum Shan. The moments of magic and encounter which she received have left a permanent expression in her Heart. She spent many childhood hours painting with KFBG’s resident botanic art sifu, and after studying fine arts in US and UK, she later returned to plant the seeds for KFBG’s community arts program. She is a mother, and her passion lies in creativity, nature, community and healing. She is deeply grateful to her teachers for the practices of Yoga, Meditation, Cha Dao, and nature vigil, which help to guide her path in this world. Deborah offers her time on the KFBG board as well as the KEP committee and with various retreats.
