1. Nature
In this talk we will explore the notion that modernity has become dangerously destructive of nature because our educational institutions cultivate a certain kind of limited thinking in us whilst mostly neglecting to develop our other three ways of knowing, namely our sensing, our feeling and our intuition.
Drawing on the psychology of C.G. Jung we will make a case for returning to a much more holistic mode of education in which we wisely cultivate each of these four ways of knowing whilst immersing ourselves in wider nature and in our local ecological communities of living organisms, rocks, water and atmosphere. Might the treasure of such an education be the dawning of a ‘post-modernity’ in this time of crisis, in which the collective ‘pro- Gaia’ lifestyles of all humanity promote the health and beauty of our planet and all her beings?
