Jianhuan received his Bachelor’s degree in Ecology from Sun Yat-sen University, where he began his research career in herpetology. His research interests are taxonomy, ecology and conservation of amphibians, reptiles and mammals of the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot. He is an experienced field researcher and has been conducting biodiversity surveys in China and Cambodia for over a decade, which explains why he serves as a member of IUCN SSC Snake Specialist Group and a regular assessor for the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, and a species expert for the Endangered Species Scientific Commission of China. He has so far described over 30 amphibians and reptiles new to science. He also serves as a volunteer reviewer for the scientific journals PeerJ, Zootaxa, Zoological Research, Asian Herpetological Research, Journal of Natural History etc.
