Baby Birds Rescue 2016

Animal Stories

The Wild Animal Rescue Centre received 196 birds between the 1 April and 30 May. The majority of the rescued birds were fledglings or juveniles, and all required specialist care during their rehabilitation. When birds reach full feather condition and are in general good health they are considered for release back to the wild.

If you encounter a baby bird, please remain at distance to check if the parents are around, it may not need any assistance. If the bird is clearly injured or in an unsafe environment, please contact the AFCD at 1823 or SPCA at 27111000 for further assistance. And remember that in Hong Kong, it is illegal to keep wild birds in captivity. Young birds normally require specialised diets and intensive care. Keeping wild birds in an inappropriate way may cause suffering. If you have any enquiries, please contact us at fauna@kfbg.org for further advice".
