New frog species discovered in Vietnam

KFBG recently worked with Vietnamese and Russian scientists to describe a new species named the Black-eyed Paddy Frog (Micryletta melanops), which is found in Langbian Plateau in southern Vietnam. The frog is extremely rare. After the first specimen of an adult female and some tadpoles were collected in 2009, researchers looked in vain for signs of its kind, so its ecology including breeding habit, call and diet remains a mystery.
