Why this piece exists

Upcycled timber, reclaimed from KFBG

Co-created by Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden and local woodcraft studio Che Artisan Workshop, it is fashioned from reclaimed Basralocus timber supplied by KFBG — each strip cut with precise joinery and carefully hand-polished by skilled artisans. Interlocking through traditional half-lap joints, the strips layer together into an elegant hexagonal grid. Held together without a single nail or drop of glue, it relies solely on the seamless, precise bite of timber against timber to steadily support your cup.

Flat-packed

You click it together yourself

What makes it most captivating is that it arrives in your hands as a flat-pack kit. Six wooden strips rest quietly, waiting for you to assemble them piece by piece. Feeling the subtle click as the joints interlock under your fingertips offers a tactile delight that mass-produced objects can never replicate – a memorable first encounter with this piece of craft. The moment it comes together, it transforms from a simple wooden item into a personal companion carrying your time and care.

Every strip displays its own unique natural grain, weaving into a distinct timeline. May it keep you company through each moment you choose to slow down and savour.
