The macaques at Monkey Haven are individuals that were rescued as orphaned infants, or had been kept as pets and were abandoned by their owners in the countryside. As they are all too used to humans they may pose a threat to people, so cannot be released to the wild.

We have many macaques living wild in the forest in KFBG. The forest provides plenty of food for them. Please do not feed them or give them a chance to steal your food, as they will learn that this is an easy way to eat and will become a nuisance to other visitors.
