Assistant Agriculture Officer
Regenerative Agriculture Department

Major responsibilities

For promoting regenerative agriculture and support local farmer, the officer will need to manage the daily operation and explore development plan of the team of Livestock management and Organic Resource Recovery.

Back up outreach projects of sustainable food system and urban agriculture is also the core responsibility.

Supervisor the Livestock and organic resource recovery team

  • Supervise teams of RAD field staff to maintain smooth daily operation in compliance with the principles of sustainable agriculture and KFBG’s mission.
  • Supervise Organic Resource Recovery operations at KFBG, including composting, constructed wetland, aquaponics, and waste management.
  • Supervise daily operation of livestock section to assure breed conservation and egg production are implemented in compliance to RAD’s Biosecurity Protocol and the requirements of Animal Exhibition License.

Develop replicable models, record updating and upkeeping

  • Monitor and distribute products from the operations in compliance to KFBG policy.
  • Conduct field study, trial, and research, as well as team management to continuously improve maximize organic resource recovery at KFBG.
  • Develop replicable models, deliver workshops and other educational activities to mainstream good practices for sustainable living and agriculture in Hong Kong.
  • Document and prepare regular reports to file proper records of the operations and studies.

Supporting outreach program

  • Initiate, coordinate and undertake replicable models in outreach for sustainable food system, including farmers market and community supported agriculture.
  • Coordinate and back up the outreach project of community farm/urban agriculture.
Job Requirements
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of KFBG
  • Degree holder of biological science, agriculture, or relevant disciplines;
  • Good knowledge of local agriculture and organic farming. Knowledge of Regenerative Agriculture, Permaculture or livestock and organic resource recovery management will be an advantage;
  • Minimum of two year-experience in farming-related field or agricultural projects;
  • Good management skills, with strong and positive work motivation;
  • Able to work independently, with good communication skill and outgoing personality;
  • Physically fit for frequent outdoor;
  • Love nature and farming.
