Landscape Foreman (Upper Landscape Team)

Job Summary
We are seeking a nature-lover to join our team of gardeners, working in the unique nature reserve of KFBG. As the leader of the Upper Landscape Team, the Landscape Foreman will play a vital role in managing the team and deciding the allocation of time and resources to complete multiple tasks, to maintain the ecological values of our vegetation and botanical displays as well as visitor’s experience in KFBG at the highest standard. The successful candidate will conduct day-to-day management of green landscapes around Kwun Yum Shan Summit, T. S. Woo Memorial Pavilion, Kadoorie Brothers Memorial Pavilion, and etc. This role requires a love of the outdoors and a desire to see native plants thrive.
Major responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the Upper Landscape Team by deciding the daily maintenance routine. Assign staff and allocate resources to maintain the vegetation and botanical displays of KFBG at the highest standard.
- Manage out-sourced maintenance work by designing the tender, communicating with contractors and supervising the contractor’s staff.
- Supervise the care for plants and landscapes in the Upper Hillside Section under the management of the Upper Hillside Management Section (in particular Kwun Yum Shan Summit, T. S. Woo Memorial Pavilion, Kadoorie Brothers Memorial Pavilion) and surrounding landscapes as assigned, by tending to a range of horticultural duties including watering, weeding, thinning, pruning and pest management with the use of powered gardening tools.
- Assist in ensuring that the environments in the Upper Hillside are maintained to the highest standards of safety and cleanliness.
- In addition, the post-holder will be expected to support the work of other horticultural and gardening teams as needed from time to time.
Job Requirements
- You are expected to strive to work in line with the KFBG values, in pursuit of the Vision and Mission of the organisation, and to self-assess your performance in this regard.
- Ideally, at least 3 years of experience in greening/ landscape/ horticulture, including working in an outdoor setting in a tropical/sub-tropical environment, with basic working knowledge of fundamental horticultural or gardening skills.
- Candidates possessing some knowledge of Hong Kong native plants and practical experience growing them would be at a distinct advantage.
- Experience with and comfortable handling common gardening tools (ideally both manual and power tools).
- Possession of a valid Class 2 driving license would be a distinct advantage.
- Dedicated to and physically fit for outdoor work.
- Friendly, hardworking, self-disciplined and willing to learn.
- Able to work on occasional Sundays or public holidays if necessary.
