Security Manager/ Assistant Manager
Facilities Department

Job Summary

This is a team leader role who is responsible for managing the security and operations of the site, assisting in establishing an appropriate operational model for the security team. This includes overseeing the Security Guides and the attendant team, managing the team's rostering, and personally being part of the security team's shifts. The incumbent will work closely with the management to establish effective security mechanisms and find out (technological) in-trend solutions that address issues such as poaching and illegal hiking while aligning with KFBG's culture. The Security Manager should possess a customer service orientation and a passion for nature, with strong written skills to contribute to reports and policies, guidelines, and protocols.

 

Major Responsibilities

  1. Security Operations:
  • Oversee the day-to-day security and operations of the site, ensuring the well-being and security of visitors, staff, and assets.
  • Coordinate and supervise the Security Guides and Attendant team to maintain a high level of vigilance and professionalism.
  • Personally participate in security shifts alongside the team to provide support and guidance.
  • Manage the rostering and scheduling of the teams to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
  1. Operational Model Development:
  • Work closely with the management to establish an appropriate operational model for the 2 teams, ensuring efficient deployment of resources and optimal coverage.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various security and site operation scenarios.
  1. Security Mechanisms:
  • Assist the management in conducting assessments and establishing effective security mechanisms that address poaching, illegal hiking, and other security concerns specific to the site. Ideally having ideas, knowledge or exposure to use in-trend (technological) solutions to address the concerns and issues.
  • Implement preventive measures, incident response protocols, and emergency procedures as necessary.
  1. Culture Alignment:
  • Foster a customer service mindset among the security team to create a positive and welcoming environment with the aim of upholding KFBG's culture into security operations and interactions with visitors and staff.
  1. Policy and Protocol Development:
  • Assist the management in reviewing and establishing security-related policies, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Contribute to the development of written materials, including reports, incident documentation, and training materials.
  1. Leadership and Management:
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with team members, fostering teamwork, motivation, and professional development.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to the teams and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

 

Requirements

  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of KFBGC.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience
  • Previous experience in security and operations management, preferably in a nature or conservation-related setting.
  • Degree holder in relevant fields preferable, candidate with experience with lower academic qualification would also be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing operations and security programs, policies, and protocols.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Cantonese.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Customer service orientation with the ability to handle visitor inquiries and difficult situations professionally.
  • Good knowledge of security best practices, security technology, emergency response procedures, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Ability to work on shifts and adapt to changing schedules as required.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations related to security operations.
  • Passion for nature and the environment, with a desire to work in a nature site.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in sensitive matters.
