KFBG 1 ha plot
Fauna Conservation Flora Conservation Conservation by Site Ecological Advisory Programme Collaborative Research in KFBG’s Nature Reserve Researchers Facilities

To better understand the dynamics of secondary forest succession and examine the response of marginal tropical forest to climate change, we established a 1 ha forest plot on our site in 2012. This plot is considered a satellite of our main 20 ha plot in Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve. Methodology follows the same ForestGEO protocols, with an additional aim being to train staff and volunteers in forest census techniques. All stems with a girth of 1 cm or greater were tagged. A total of 10,388 trees representing 68 species and 51 different genera are now being monitored.
