This year, as we celebrate the 70th anniversary of KFBG, our Kadoorie Earth Programme talk series gathers under the theme Awakening of Memory. Inspired by the work of Indigenous peoples from the Selvagem association in Brazil, this theme invites us to reflect on memory not simply as something personal or historical, but as something alive – carried in land, culture, story and spirit.
Our series begins on 22 April, Earth Day: a time to gather in gratitude for our living Earth, the source of nourishment, healing and connection for all beings and a moment to reflect on KFBG's evolving journey of care from its early humanitarian roots as a centre for agricultural aid to its ongoing commitment to nature conservation, holistic education and ecological restoration.
In the follow-up talks, we will learn from Indigenous ways of knowing connection with land, community and inner awareness and how this may renew our sense of belonging and responsibility within the Earth community and can inform processes of healing and self-healing today.
We warmly invite you to join us – from Hong Kong and across the world – as we listen, reflect and learn together. May this series create space to remember what connects us, and to carry that remembering into how we live and care for the Earth.
