Senior Wildlife Rehabilitation Keeper
Fauna Conservation Department

Major responsibilities

This is an individual contributor role. The incumbent will report to the Senior Wildlife Rehabilitation supervisor.

  1. To provide good care to confiscated animals and wildlife under rehabilitation.
    • Responsible for the health and well-being of all animals and the integrity of housing and enclosures,
    • Maintain a good standard of husbandry,
    • Diet preparation and feed all animals according to dietary guidelines and feeding schedules,
    • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all enclosures and surrounding areas at all times,
    • Monitor health of animals and report observations to Vet Staff,
    • Conduct pre-release training schedule according to instructions.
  1. To assist and support supervisor in maintaining the daily operation of the wild animal rescue centre.
    • To complete daily supportive tasks: cleaning station, laundry, etc.
    • To regularly fill one of the daily work positions,
    • To cover allocated AS and SAS responsibilities when supervisors are absent,
    • To monitor feed and supplies,
  1. To report problems/ issues to the relevant sections.
    • maintenance repairs,
    • General purchase,
  1. To assist with the training of new staff and volunteers.
Job Requirements
  • At least 1-years relevant working experience, with hands-on experience in animal husbandry
  • Possessed a qualification in biological science/ environmental science/ relevant subject, animal husbandry or related subjects will be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm regarding conservation and animal care issues.
  • Good command of spoken and written Chinese and English.
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Physically fit to work in an outdoor environment and in adverse weather.
  • Willing to work on weekends and public holidays.
  • Able to work independently and work in a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Honest, responsible, and friendly.
