Assistant Creative Engagement Curator
Flora Conservation Department

Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Creative Engagement Curator to bridge Hong Kong’s vibrant botanical world with the local community. This role is ideal for a dynamic plant and nature lover who possesses imaginative design and communication skills to translate scientific wonder into compelling visual and educational narratives.

The primary purpose of this role is to help KFBG’s Flora Conservation Department foster deeper public appreciation for the unique flora of Hong Kong, especially Lantau Island, by supporting a project team in orchestrating a range of print and digital publications, and public engagement activities, including workshops and an exhibition. You will have the opportunity to develop your voice for our plant-focused environmental education mission, splitting your time between creative design, ecological research and field work in nature.

Major responsibilities

Creative Design:

  • Design and compilation of digital and print publications that highlight the ecology, horticulture and beauty of Hong Kong’s plant life.

Content Curation:

  • Lead the development of content and display materials for educational workshops and a botanical exhibition, as well as the preparation of high-impact social media posts.

Public Education:

  • Deliver school talks, tours and workshops, inspiring the younger generation to admire and protect plants and nature in Hong Kong.

Field Engagement:

  • Act as a field engagement assistant, supporting learning in the classroom through hands-on activities for schools and the general public.

Research & Coordination

  • Conduct and support desk-based research on native plant species, their ecology and horticulture, while maintaining seamless coordination among project team members.

Job Requirements

  • With a degree either in Environmental Science or a related discipline (such as Botany or Horticulture) or a background in Education, especially Environmental Education.
  • Fresh graduates with relevant internship or project experience will also be considered.
  • A fundamental understanding of, and interest in, plants and the natural world.
  • Proficiency in print and digital design, being familiar with standard design software packages such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • The ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences, including students and the general public.
  • Possessing a systematic and organised work ethic, being able to help plan and execute exhibitions, workshops and public engagements in a timely manner.
  • Strong command of spoken and written Chinese and English.
  • Outgoing and dynamic, comfortable leading group activities.
  • Physically fit for outdoor work.
  • Responsible, self-motivated, good team player and well organized.
  • Able to work on occasional Sundays or public holidays if necessary.
