Part-Time Playgroup Teacher

Major responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, lead, and guide children aged 24-36 months using a child-led and nature play-based approach, bringing lesson plans to life with creativity and enthusiasm.
- Utilise a variety of teaching methods and resources to stimulate young children’s learning, adapting lessons as necessary to meet individual needs.
- Contribute to course development through reflective practices of lesson planning, content, and materials. Curriculum leader or design experience is a plus.
- Observe each individual child’s learning progress and provide appropriate guidance to parents/caregivers, ensuring a tailored approach to each child’s development.
- Build an excellent rapport with families and children, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Coordinate with KFBG staff to ensure a seamless playgroup experience for participants, including but not limited to timing, logistics, greeting participants and venue set-up.
- Facilitate hands-on learning experiences by collaborating with KFBG experts during activities involving plants and animals, providing support, encouragement, and guidance to ensure children engage safely and meaningfully with nature.
- Serve as a positive ambassador for KFBG, unholding professionalism, punctuality, and maintaining a well-prepared environment at all times.
Job Requirements
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in early year’s education and working with children and families.
- Cantonese speaker with an excellent level of spoken and written English. Mandarin proficiency will be considered an advantage.
- A recognised degree or postgraduate qualification in education / training or related disciplines is preferred.
- Playgroup teaching experience preferred, but fresh graduates are eligible to apply, with teacher training provided.
- Understand potential hazards and risks in a nature-based environment and be able to step in and provide support or guidance when needed to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
- Good interpersonal skills: Creative, patient, caring, and enthusiastic about children and teaching.
- Good work ethic and a team player, with a willingness to take initiative and continue to learn and develop.
- All the prospective employees will be required to undergo the Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) and to provide the documents.
- This position is approximately 2 days of work per week. However, this is negotiable and will depend on the frequency of the program.
