A Day in Connection with Nature at Ark Eden｜ Introductory Workshop with Claire Elouard 2026 Autumn

Nature is everywhere – especially on beautiful Lantau Island in Hong Kong

This time, we bring Claire’s teaching beyond Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) to Ark Eden, a special place in Mui Wo on Lantau Island. Since 2006, Ark Eden has been restoring degraded secondary forests and valleys across Lantau, planting nearly 40,000 native trees. After more than 20 years of growth, these trees have become a living sanctuary where people and nature can meet again.

In this one-day introductory workshop, you have the opportunity to connect with these mature trees and the landscape they now shape. Through gentle, embodied practices, you will explore your own energy and intuition, learn grounding and anchoring techniques, and discover how to recharge with the energy of nature. The day includes time for quiet presence, shared reflection and simple exercises that help you feel more rooted, balanced and open.

Whether you are new to this work or already on a nature-connection path, this workshop at Ark Eden offers a supportive space to slow down, reconnect and begin something new – in the company of trees, on an island that reminds us of the abundance of nature.

Workshop Activities
The experiential activities* in this workshop provide an opportunity for participants to explore and practice the following aspects:

  • Identification of one’s perception of energy within oneself and in nature.
  • Practice of connecting to the Earth (grounding and anchoring) and its energy.
  • Development of stability in body, mind and spirit.
  • Practice of connecting with one’s intuition.
  • Connection to trees, their qualities and their healing powers.
  • Learning how to revitalise oneself with the energy of nature.

Teacher

Claire Elouard

Claire is of French nationality; she spent her early childhood in Senegal, Africa, and later studied in France. She has a master’s degree in biology and a PhD in vegetal ecology from universities in France. She conducted her field research for her PhD in Indonesia, and afterward spent eight years researching forest pathology and ecology in Malaysia and south India. Subsequently, she directed an environmental project in the Mumbai area of India, from 2001 to 2015. Since then she has been developing her workshops on ‘Energy of Nature’.

Claire has been deeply connected with nature since childhood. She later developed her perception of nature’s energy and deepened it by learning about the Hindu philosophy on the five elements and their corresponding chakras. She has been teaching people to communicate with nature and perceive its energy since 2004 in India, France, Belgium, Singapore, Malaysia, Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan.

Ark Eden

Ark Eden Foundation is a registered Hong Kong charity and a leading eco-education centre located in a lush, secluded valley in the foothills of Mui Wo, Lantau Island. It is dedicated to the ethics of permaculture and restoring a connection to the natural environment through holistic workshops and regenerative projects that create a positive change in people's attitudes and actions towards the planet and each other.

Since Ark Eden’s inception in 2006, over 120,000 people have been involved in Ark Eden’s programmes. These cater for students from kindergarten to university level, as well as adults from business enterprises and community groups. Ark Eden is also committed to play-based nature connection activities for young children and annually provides around 18 weeks of holiday nature camps that simultaneously weave a comprehensive youth leadership programme through them.

Ark Eden’s ecological regeneration project has planted nearly 40,000 native saplings of 160 species onto hillsides left bare from repeated forest fires. It is also part of a network of green groups in Hong Kong that engage the Hong Kong public in a number of advocacy and policy creating issues. Its long term vision is to foster peace and respect for the dignity of all life and to partner with other eco-sustainable sites world-wide to make this a reality.

  • Please note that this is an experiential workshop. Participants are required to participate fully in all exercises to ensure progression.
  • To ensure the quality of the workshop for all participants, KFBG and Ark Eden reserve the right to select participants for this workshop, if we feel necessary. For unsuccessful applications a full refund will be arranged by bank transfer or cheque within one month.  
  • Payment is not refundable after acceptance, unless the workshop is cancelled by KFBG due to inclement weather, under-enrolment or any other reason.

  • Corporate Programmes: Our Holistic Education Department staff can design either half-day or full-day nature education and art programmes for corporate staff or their family members based on specific needs. Leveraging the unique natural landscape and cultural ambiance of Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden, our activities may include guided tours, farm-to-table experiences, nature-based workshops, talks and art activities, aiming to promote understanding and practice of sustainable living for organisations.
