Conservation Officer (Projects)
Fauna Conservation Department - Kadoorie Conservation China Programme

The Kadoorie Conservation China (KCC) program is seeking a suitable Conservation Officer (Projects) to join the team and support KCC’s biodiversity conservation projects in the Greater Bay Area (including Hong Kong) and other parts of mainland China. This is an individual contributor role, and the incumbent will report to the Conservation Manager of KCC.

Major Responsibilities
  • To assist in the conceptualization, development, implementation, and monitoring of KCC’s biodiversity conservation projects.
  • To coordinate and carry out fieldwork in Hong Kong and mainland China.
  • To collect, analyze and manage data from field biodiversity surveys.
  • To compile field data and write reports, scientific papers related to the conservation projects.
  • To build the capacity, motivation and effectiveness of KCC’s project partners and other stakeholders.
  • To support KCC’s awareness-raising programmes and other community engagement activities.
  • To represent KFBG at local and international conferences and workshops when appropriate, to share the work and results of the KCC projects.
  • Work closely and support when needed with other project teams in the department
  • To perform other tasks as assigned by direct line of report.
Job Requirements
  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of KFBG.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in or related to Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Zoology, Botany, Conservation Biology, or Forest Conservation.
  • At least three years of relevant work experience.
  • Good knowledge of the fauna of Hong Kong and South China.
  • Experience in biodiversity survey, biodiversity conservation project or protected area management is preferred.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English, Cantonese and Putonghua, and computer literacy.
  • Skills in GIS and/or wildlife photography would be an advantage.
  • Strong communication and people skills, with ability to work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team.
  • Friendly, hardworking, and motivated with good self-discipline.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in a range of weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Frequent travel to mainland China and elsewhere is required.
  • A valid driving license would be an advantage.
