As Senior Education Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting and promoting biodiversity conservation, wildlife rescue and the public learning experience in both Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. Your responsibilities will involve conducting awareness campaigns, developing progressive signage, managing social media platforms, and providing training and support to partners. Additionally, you will be instrumental in developing a yearly work plan containing educational activities, collaborations with environmental organizations, and producing engaging public exhibits. Your work will involve outdoor work, reporting, and database management, emphasizing the importance of professional representation and integrity in all interactions for KFBG. You will also manage the successful outreach volunteer programme.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead the coordination for Education projects in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area as assigned.
  • Design and implement awareness material related to biodiversity conservation and sustainability.
  • Manage social media platforms for conservation projects and operations and assess their impact.
  • Maintain audio-visual collections from fieldwork activities.
  • Enhance partner capacity and effectiveness in the region through collaborations and promotion activities.
  • Facilitate data collection, report writing, and communication with partners and government officials when required.
  • Organize educational activities and develop collaborations with environmental NGOs.
  • Develop interpretive content for public signage, exhibits and educational resources.
  • Utilize social media to promote departmental work and engage with audiences, directly and in collaboration with Communication and Partnerships Department.
  • Coordinate the Night Walk Programme and nature-themed activities with support from a dedicated team.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to education and public engagement programmes in the region.
  • Coordinate the annual outreach volunteer recruitment programme and help to manage the volunteer pool.
  • Provide interpretation services for visitors and schools when needed.
  • Train and supervise the education volunteer team.
  • Annual Budget preparation for education project work.
  • Manage the animal photo library and participate in educational forums.
  • Travel to Mainland China for project activities in support of the Kadoorie Conservation China section when required.

Job Requirements:

  • Alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Strong command of English, Cantonese, and preferably Putonghua.
  • Degree or equivalent and at least 3 years’ experience in an educational field.  Natural sciences experience an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Public talking and media skills
  • Passion for nature conservation.
  • Self-motivated, dynamic, and a collaborative team player.
  • Physically fit for outdoor work and flexible with work hours.
  • Possession of a valid driving license will be an advantage.
  • Candidates with varying levels of experience will be considered.
