KFBG Green Hub is a multiple award-winning project by Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden, developed in partnership with the Development Bureau of the Hong Kong Government. Through the revitalisation of the historic Old Tai Po Police Station, KFBG Green Hub has been transformed into a vibrant community hub that inspires sustainable living. The project has gained international recognition, being shortlisted as one of Hong Kong’s first two case studies in UN-Habitat’s Shanghai Manual – A Guide for Sustainable Development in the 21st Century (2024).
Guided by a holistic conservation approach, KFBG Green Hub carefully preserves the site’s century-old architecture, heritage trees—including Old and Valuable Trees—and supports the coexistence of the neighbouring Tai Po Market Egretry of conservation importance. The gardens have been thoughtfully restored into an ecologically rich landscape, nurturing the long-term wellbeing of both people and wildlife.
Today, KFBG Green Hub is a welcoming green oasis where heritage, nature, and community come together. Visitors can explore a declared historic monument, learn best practices in conservation, and experience practical, affordable solutions for sustainable living.
The Eat Well Canteen, one of Hong Kong’s most well-known vegan restaurants, hosts a wide range of food education workshops for individuals and families. Its eco-guesthouse offers a unique opportunity to stay and immerse oneself in the heritage setting, while the Co-op Shop, Sunday Market, and weekly open days create lively platforms for connection and collaboration among sustainable producers, educators, conservationists, and the wider public.
