Wild Animal Rescue team

We are looking for long-term volunteers to join our Wild Animal Rescue team at Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden

At the KFBG Wild Animal Rescue Centre we have been very fortunate to have had a regular stream of keen and compassionate volunteers supporting us for many years. We have benefitted from this support which allows our team to help and save more animals. The volunteers have gained useful experience that helps equip them for future careers and positions in veterinary, conservation and other related fields. The attachment provides a deeper understanding of the needs of different animals and about the threats facing many in the wild.

As we receive and save a growing number of wild animals every year, we are looking for volunteers that are willing to commit to at least one-year (preferably more), and with a minimum of 2 days per week commitment (can include weekends). The more time invested in the position will allow a deeper relationship with KFBG and the chance to see more animals from arrival to eventual release – a moment when the volunteer can reflect on the important contribution, she/he has played in helping the animal to return to the wild.

You may be retired, on sabbatical, between jobs or accompanying a spouse in HK and have a passion for wild animals and environmental protection – if you can commit for a longer attachment with the KFBG rescue team, it will greatly increase what we can achieve for conservation and the community and in turn provide you with more experience and a valuable relationship with staff and the centre.

Suitable volunteer applicants will:

  1. Enjoy working indoors and outdoors and do not mind getting dirty
  2. Enjoy working with animals
  3. Be able to work on their own or with a team
  4. Have some previous animal care experience (preferred)
  5. Have a valid tetanus vaccination (required)
  6. Get free access to KFBG and will be allowed to bring a guest on these visiting days.

We are looking for a commitment of two or more days per week for 12 months or a combination of weekdays and weekends.

If you think this opportunity to support the conservation and protection of local and global biodiversity is something for you, please apply via this link:

We look forward to welcoming you to KFBG in the near future!
